Delta Flight 4819 - Toronto, Canada - Wind and Snow
The Incident: The aviation-weather incident I chose to discuss is the Delta Airlines Flight 4819 crash at Pearson International Airport in Toronto, Canada, on February 17, 2025. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is investigating this event. (Canada, 2025) The plane (Delta Flight 4819) attempted to land on a snowy runway at Pearson International Airport a little after 2 p.m. local time. (Canada, 2025) While landing, the plane had begun rolling towards its right side, probably due to winds causing lift on the left wing, and the right wing broke off. (Rodriguez, 2025) The plane continued rolling, the tail breaking off as well, until the plane stopped upside down, the nose pointing in a different direction. (Canada, 2025) When the right wing and tail broke from the fuselage, they caused a fire, that thankfully did not continue with the rest of the plane.
